It’s December time, and before I know it, I got back to my good ol’ fav hobby – writing. But I thought this was the only one that woke up from the slumbers. Nope. There’s yet another – running.
I’m glad I am back to my two loves as I would call them. Reviving them took for a while. It wasn’t easy though because I had to pull these two out of their beds. They’ve been sleeping beauties for quite some time now. But I’m happy now. Really happy!
So what’s the hype about this revival?
Well, besides I love these two, they give me the benefit of wellness and expression. You might think that wellness goes for running and expression for writing. You might think it that way, but I’d rather switch the two. Continue Reading »
As fast as any news can spread over the internet, so does any hoax without any validity whatsoever can be equally viral.
That’s what this Facebook shutdown hoax is all about. When I heard about it, I just slapped my face, acting out what many needed to wake up to the un-truth of this all.
What’s with the social networking giant got to do with an announcement that it’s going to go for closure soon. With the apex it is experiencing, any news of this sort is just way too ridiculous.
The effect, however, on some users seem like its the end of the world. A total meltdown. Perhaps, some are shaken out of their cozy little shells to think that all their precious memories will be lost — forever. Continue Reading »
When the new year is about to start, almost every person’s list has these items: a revelry to meet the new year, and — the old-time fav — a new year’s resolution. Both are SIMPLE to do. That’s S-I-M-P-L-E. Yes, you hear that right. Simple.
The first is simple because it’s easy to PREPARE. Is there a need for anybody to learn how to do this step by step?
Anyone with creativity and imagination, which all of us are gifted with though in differing degrees (better use it or puff!), will surely have a way of making a wild and boisterous revelry or a quiet one to meet the new year properly — or otherwise not.
It’s a make or break for some though. You’ve read what happened to those whose fingers get puffed when the firecracker they’re lighting suddenly went off on their fingers. Continue Reading »
Imagine being hounded by the billing office into paying your bills while your loved one is confined in the ICU with a very unstable condition!
What kind of hospital would do such a thing, even visiting you in your home to tell you that you need to settle this and that (VERY ANNOYING indeed), while your premature baby is still confined, helplessly struggling over his breathing due to undeveloped lungs coupled with pneumonia and a possible congenital disorder? That’s the kind of treatment I got from St. Dominic Medical Center’s billing office.
What kind of hospital whose pediatrician would tell you that his services aren’t for charity and that he’s been pressured by the billing office into telling you that you need to settle your account while you’re emotionally depressed over the condition of your premature baby (he even does this at times while I’m watching over my premature baby)? A professional and an expert of his field but can’t even understand the meaning of timing. Well, that’s what the approach of this hospital’s doctor to me. Continue Reading »
I’ve known quite a number of songs from the past till now. But among these, only few has the kind of touch that makes me remember all my best moments, especially the ones concerning love. One of these songs is Paul William’s “Save Me a Dream.”
Every time I hear it, it sweeps me back in time, to the details of love that only couples who are for each other can understand so deeply. These are moments that I cherish so much through the years — thoughts and feelings I have for my beloved wife, Jasmin Ondong.
This song is my dedication to her and to the love we have throughout the years. There’s no other greater dream came true in my life than my beloved wife.
Jesus Christ, the center of every Christmas activity
Not long from now, Christmas day will be coming. And along with it are fireworks, food, drinks, hanging out with friends, mall hopping, exchanging of gifts, parties here and there. We’ll be panting around a lot with all these merrymaking. But even before I wrote this post and put this up on publish, telling you about it might just be too late a news. The fact is, it’s happening right before us now.
But come to think of it, what is Christmas without Christ, a merrymaking without even acknowledging the very center of this season? Somehow, the celebration is cast in the name of Christmas because of the occasion falling on December. However, we get ourselves busied with a lot of details while missing the root. And that root is Christ, the source and very essence of the celebration itself.
Yet no one keeps attention. Things get so secularized, too commercialized while the essence has been effaced. The meaning is lost in the frantic scampering over details which leads us to ask: can there be Christmas without Christ? If one does something without fully understanding the source from where one’s action should be originating from, then one could be led astray into celebrating Christmas without Christ. At work, we were taught on valuing confidentiality and the seriousness of information security. That goes with other aspects in life where information needs to be safeguarded in order to protect individuals, organizations and/or institutions.
But it seems some individuals are on the bent of doing the opposite — even satisfied over it. Was it for the sake of the limelight or not? But whatever it is for, it sure got WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange his own doze of limelight and infamous exposure filled with pressure and fraught with every possibility of being tried and arrested. It has been a year now since the massacre in Maguindanao happened, but up until this minute, the families of victims are still facing a blank wall. With the sought-after justice still hazy, the waiting has just turned into a form of injustice to those whose family members perished.
